Transforming Your House into a Home
Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate
Dictionary, 11th Edition
defines a “house” as a “building that serves as living quarters for
one or a few families.” The same edition says a “home” as “one’s
place of residence.” In other words, the dictionary’s authors
believe a house and a home are the same. I don’t see it that way.

J.C. PENNEY TO SELL
ECKERD
PLANO, Texas (Star-Telegram.com) – Plano-based J.C. Penney Co.
announced yesterday that it plans to sell its Eckerd division
because of the drugstore chain’s poor performance.

NORTH TEXAS JOBS
DALLAS (Vought Aircraft Industries) – Vought Aircraft
Industries, an aerostructures manufacturing company, will
receive a $35 million grant from the Texas Enterprise Fund,
which is administered by Texas Gov. Rick Perry's office. In
addition to the grant, Vought will work with the governor's
office, the General Land Office and several other Texas state
agencies to facilitate the creation of 3,000 new jobs in Texas
by the end of 2009.

HOME SALES COOL
WASHINGTON, D.C. (NAHB.org) – New-home sales dipped slightly in
January following last quarter’s hot sales pace but remained
well above last year's pace. The seasonally adjusted annual rate
of new single-family homes sales was more than 1.1 million, the
Commerce Department reported, down 1.7 percent from December's
upwardly-revised rate but 9.6 percent above the January 2003
rate.
